Literature Text

We met beside that
honey suckle bush.
You taught me how to
Retrieve the sweetness
From the beautiful flower.

Flower after flower,
We picked the whole bush clean.
If they were too high for me to reach,
You'd pick the flower for me.
And we'd move onto the next one.

Time after time,
We drink the sweet drops,
And laugh together.

Everyday, we meet by the honey suckle.
Everyday, my heart beats a little faster,
Knowing you're near.
Every time, my blood pumps faster,
Wanting you closer.

Time after time,
We drink the honey,
And stand a little closer.

And everyday, I want a little more,
But, everyday, I cannot ask for it.
You've always handed me the honey,
And I know not how to reach on my own.
I'll wait another day.

Time after time,
We drink of the white blossom,
And wait a little longer.

Finally, I must ask you,
Or else burst of longing,
Are we just friends, who
Slurp honey everyday?
Or are we meant to be
More?

Time after time,
We drink nature's sweetness,
And wait some more.

Finally, winter comes,
And the honey suckle vanishes.
The cold comes,
And we cease to meet,
By the honey suckle bush.

Time after time,
We never return,
And wonder what could have been.
A spontaneous poem (like always ;D). I remember when I was younger and my friend and I would go to the honey suckles in his backyard and pick the little flowers. I would never have guessed you could drink them. Of course, we moved after a year or two, and I haven't seen him since...

I usually don't favorite poems off the home page, but I really like this one! ^^
